IG Backlog: Week of 9/29/17

Infragistics Team / Sunday, October 1, 2017

You know those weeks where your backlog ends up with its own backlog? I know you do. So, in the better-late-than-never philosophy of blogging and before we get the new week kicked off, let’s look at the #IGBacklog of news we don’t think you’ll want to miss for the last week in September.

By Bill Dickinson

  1. Microsoft Ignite: Lots of news out of the Microsoft conference-formerly-known-as-Tech-Ed in Orlando, but here are a few that got our attention. Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet tells us that “Microsoft commits to deliver next Office client, servers by second half 2018.” The Register says, “Microsoft: We've made a coding language for a quantum computer that may or may not exist.” And PC Mag gave us a handy list of “12 Big Announcements from Microsoft Ignite.”
  2. In more news from the upper left corner of the US, Amazon had a big announcement, introducing three new Alexa gadgets, the Spot, the new Echo, and the Echo Plus. TechCrunch says, “The Echo Spot is the best Echo.”
  3. Firefox Quantum: Firefox updated their beta & developer versions of their latest browser this week. VentureBeat has more in, “Firefox 57 beta arrives with major visual overhaul and next-generation browser engine.”

We’d love to know what you think! Do you think the from Microsoft will make a difference for developers? Are you as impressed with the Echo Spot as TechCrunch? Will Firefox 57 be a leap forward? Let us know if there’s anything else we should know @Infragistics by using #IGBacklog.

Infragistics’ own @DeanGuida and @JasonBeres will be in Orlando themselves this week at the Gartner Symposium. Watch @Infragistics for updates from them all week, and we’ll do a wrap-up of their favorite sessions here on the blog.
